Dr. Leslie Persaud
Founder and Director
Dr. Leslie I.R. Persaud has been practicing medicine for over 50 years in Guyana. He has extensive experience in the fields of Primary Care and Occupational Medicine.
Dr. Persaud graduated Medical School from S.N. Medical College, Agra, India. Upon his return to Guyana, he entered Government Service working across the length and breadth of Guyana including Georgetown Hospital, New Amsterdam Hospital and Lethem Hospital.
After a period of postgraduate studies in Brasilia, Dr. Persaud joined the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO), where he served for many years and rose to the position of Chief Medical Officer responsible for the healthcare needs of thousands of sugar workers and their families.
He continues to be passionate about primary prevention and occupational health and safety. He also holds a Public Health Certificate from Boston University.
Dr. Persaud has made significant contributions to the heath care system in Guyana including serving on the executive of the Guyana Medical Association and as a Health Facility Inspector for the Ministry of Health.
Dr. David R. Persaud
Medical Director
Dr. David R. Persaud is a passionate and experienced primary care physician who is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. He returned to Guyana in 2022 to join the practice.
Dr. Persaud has over 10 years of experience practicing medicine in the United States. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine – New Orleans and is board-certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Persaud is a firm believer in the importance of primary and preventive care. He takes the time to get to know his patients and understand their individual needs and goals. He works closely with them to develop personalized treatment plans that help them achieve their optimal health.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Persaud is also a former Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Louisiana State University. He has also worked extensively in community health centers in Georgia and Florida. This experience has given him a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities and has instilled in him a commitment to providing accessible, affordable care to all patients.
Dr. Persaud is a compassionate and caring physician who is committed to making a difference in the lives of his patients. He is a valuable asset to the practice and is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to the people of Guyana.
Dr. Persaud is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Geriatrics Society, and the American Medical Association. He is also a recipient of the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
